NF Central Plains is completely led by volunteers. Each of the board members and officers either has NF or cares for someone with NF. We are passionate about our purpose.
Introducing the dedicated individuals who are working behind the scenes —

Jill Meyer became involved with NF Central Plains after her daughter was diagnosed in 2010. She has served on the board since approximately 2015, and has chaired Kansas City’s annual Walk for over a decade. She and her family have also advocated in Washington, D.C. for research funding.

Shelly Chavez got involved with the NF Network after her daughter, Riley, was diagnosed with NF1 at age four. She’s been an advocate ever since and looks forward to connecting with other NF families. In her words, “Sharing this journey makes us all stronger.”

Sharon Loftspring serves as Secretary on the boards of NF Central Plains and The NF Network. She has a daughter with NF1. Her favorite part about volunteering is meeting others impacted by NF. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling and playing board games.

Kaymee Phillips serves the NF Central Plains board as a jack-of-all-trades. You can typically find her managing registration tables at events – come say “Hello!” Kaymee has a son with NF1. Her favorite event is the #NFStrong Walk because she gets to spend a fun day with her family and create new friendships with other families impacted by NF.

Tyler Kaufmann’s foray into the world of NF began when his son, Theo, was diagnosed with NF1 at four months old. After the diagnosis, Tyler dove head-first into all the information he could find and making connections to help him learn what he needed to best care for Theo. In his free time, Tyler enjoys rock climbing, hiking, outdoor sports, traveling, and playing board games.

Jeannie Gordon provides support to various committees and events whenever she can. Her husband and one of her sons have NF1. Jeannie enjoys meeting new people and making new connections. She likes to spend time with her family, attending hockey games or watching Formula 1 racing.

LaRue Allee has been involved with NF Central Plains for the past 15 years. She was a special education teacher for many years in northwest Missouri. Her daughter, Lindsey, had NF1 and struggled with scoliosis and learning disabilities. She passed away in 2019 from a tragic accident. LaRue enjoys helping others and meeting new families in the NF community to share stories and make connections.

Nichole Servos has served on the NFCP board for many years in different capacities. She has lived with NF2 since she was a young child. She loves being a part of something to help bring awareness and a name to NF, as well as making lasting relationships with others impacted by NF.
